IN THE NEWS TODAY

Since yesterday’s roundup some news has come afoot in Wearside, here’s a roundup of all the happenings around the club that might have flown under your radar. For instance more transfer rumours, both ins and outs. As well as how Bailey Wright got on for the Socceroo's in their bid for World Cup qualification.

WRIGHT'S IN QATAR

Last night Bailey Wright started in Australia's World Cup qualifier Play-Off final against Peru. The game was 0-0 after 90 minutes and ended up going to penalties which produced some drama, Wright didn’t take a penalty but his country’s goalkeeper had some fine moves on the touchline as he danced his way into the World Cup, saving two penalties to win the tie.

Bailey played the entire 120 minutes of action, and played well as he showed his experience leading the backline. It seems surprising based off of that performance that he only got in the squad due to another player bowing out due to injury, and hopefully in December he will be in Qatar playing for his country. Of course we’ll all be watching hoping he doesn’t come back injured but we’ll all be wishing him the best because he deserves it.

The penalty shootout caps off a very successful season for Bails, with him winning promotion to the Championship with us and then taking his country to their sixth consecutive World Cup. King of the Play-Offs?

GEADS AND LJ REUNION?

According to reports from Scotland, former manager Lee Johnson is apparently interested in bringing McGeady to Hibs. There’s no secret they know each other well, and Johnson got the best out of Aiden at times.

It seems to be very preliminary, but the reports say that McGeady is keen to return to Scotland, so there might not be a better team to do that than Hibs with a former manager in LJ.

RANGERS’ STEWART INTEREST REMAINS

The interest for Ross Stewart from Rangers seems to still be there, but one positive report that came out was that the Gers are in contract extension talks with their current striker, Alfredo Morelos. He is currently being linked with a move away from the Scottish club, and a transfer for him could see Rangers ramp up their interest in our talisman.

It seems nailed on that it’s one or the other, either Morelos stays and we keep the Loch Ness Drogba, or they let Morelos go and use that money to take Ross away from Wearside.
