HUME POST DUNDEE WIN

Trai Hume spoke about scoring his first goal as a Sunderland player, but couldn't stress enough the importance of building fitness and the role game time plays in a pre-season campaign...

FIRST FULL GAME

"Obviously it's tough getting your first 90 minutes, it's the first 90 minutes for most lads this pre-season so the most important thing is getting 90 minutes. Even some boys getting 60 minutes, it just depends on your fitness. And obviously winning was good!"

BULLET HEADER

"Dennis has just crossed it in at the back post and it's came it me and I've just headed it into the back of the net. It was good to get the goal but the most important thing is getting 90 minutes and just getting fitness up."

JANUARY SIGNING

"Coming in January was hard to settle in and get into the team, because the team is having a run of games and stuff like that. But hopefully I can get a strong pre-season under my belt and play as many games as I can."

PORTUGAL VS UK

"Games and minutes are the most important thing. It's obviously different being out of the sun, it's not as hard! But still just getting stuff done and playing games, we have a game coming up on Tuesday and some of the lads will play in that, so it's just getting 90 minutes under the belt."

NEW SIGNINGS

"Just forget about the singing, we don't mention that! Aji still has to sing so we'll see what his is like! Obviously Dan and Aji got minutes today and I thought they did well, Dan started and Aji came on and did well. The most important thing for all the players is just playing and getting a run of games."
