Trai Hume has spoke about his expectations for his upcoming games for Northern Ireland as he says they have been solid in defence lately, but they need to fashion more chances to succeed. He also touched on when he got into our starting eleven.
IMPRESSIVE DEFENCE
“Ourselves and Finland have conceded the least goals in the group (three) so we have been defensively okay. In the attacking sense we haven’t done our best, we can create more chances for the strikers. There can be improvement in both areas but if we can get more goals we will win games.”
PLAYING EXPECTATIONS
“I have a good feeling I may play both games as Conor Bradley is injured. We have been playing in the same position most of the time and Michael (O’Neill) has started me in the last two games. I played left wing back against Denmark and right wing back against Kazakhstan. I want more games and hopefully that happens. The travelling doesn’t bother me much even though Kazakhstan is far away and the boys may be suffering from a bit of fatigue. I’ll probably sleep on the flight, I’m lucky I can do that.”
UPCOMING GAMES
“The mood is still high, results haven’t gone our way but we still feel we can get something out of this group. It’s very wide open, the teams are evenly matched and if we can get two wins here it will put us right back where we want to be. These are two away games but they are both winnable, especially when we look at them in the footage. We can win these two games which sets us up for the next two at home coming up.
TARGETS
“Positive results this week will give us a good chance of getting out of the group. Trying to get to a Euros and World Cup is still my target as well as building up my appearances.”
SAFC
“We have a young group at Sunderland and I’ve played a lot of games which has been good experience for me. I got sent off in the first game of the season which wasn’t ideal but we have got ourselves higher up the table.”
ESTABLISHED
“Whenever we first got promoted to the Championship I didn’t know if I was going to be ready to play. At Christmas time I got an opportunity and felt good. I’ve been able to establish myself and prove myself at that level. I want to improve every week.”
