GAFFER ON PRE-SEASON AND INJURIES

Tony Mowbray is looking forward to Sunderland's pre-season tour of the USA, but has also given updates on Sunderland's more long-term injured players...

24 HOURS A DAY

"What's good is the young players will be integrated into the group and will be living with the players. In football clubs you normally come into work and go home at, depending when you train in the afternoon or not, half past one or half past four and then you're off home. When you're away on a trip together it's 24 hours a day with each other and hopefully that will help the young players integrate into the group."

CAMARADERIE

"There is a lot of travelling, the heat will be hard but the camaraderie of the group, understanding, the young players, that we have to be relentless this year. The league looks so much tougher on paper, the games look really tough, but we should look forward to it."

STEWART

"I've seen Ross out on the training ground with the physio, with his trainers on at the minute doing very light stuff but actually back on the grass which is really exciting and positive."

EMBO

"Embleton isn't far away, probably the last week of pre-season he'll get back joining in but is not coming on this trip. He might as well stay at home and work with the physios we're leaving behind and get more work done."

EVANS/ALESE/CIRKIN

"Corry Evans is a fair bit away so he's on his plan and will keep going with that. Alese is going to bite into the season, I think. Cirkin I would hope isn't too far away. I would hope he'll be involved in the last couple of pre-season games."
