Elliot Embleton has been speaking after signing a new long-term deal at the club after a successful start to the season. The midfielder’s new deal runs until 2025 and he can’t wait to get started.
SIGNING THE NEW DEAL
"Yeah, I’m buzzing with the new deal. It’s a proud moment for me and my family. Hopefully I can keep showing the fans some good stuff on the pitch. Obviously it means a lot coming through the youth system after being here since the age of six, and now playing in the first team."
RETURNING FROM THE BLACKPOOL LOAN
"Going out on loan to Blackpool built my confidence; it helped me get minutes after a stop-start year due to injuries. It was good to come back to Sunderland and show what i can do, and have full pre season with the gaffer. I went out on loan just to get game time. It was best for me to get some minutes at a club where i knew i was likely to play, and it was always the plan to come back to Sunderland for pre season and work under Johnson."
OUR START TO THE SEASON
"We’ve been in the top two for most of the start of the season now. I know we’re only ten games in, but if we keep on playing the way we are, we should be up there towards the end of the season."
