EKWAH NOT SHOCKED ABOUT OUR SUCCESS

Pierre Ekwah has opened up about Sunderland's success, here is what he had to say about that and how the mood is around camp.

UNOFFICIAL TRANSLATOR

"Sometimes I might be used as a translator for some of the other French lads. They really like that I can speak both languages, which is really fun. Playing back to back is a good thing, I think a player needs to play back to back to really show his potential and what he is all about. So, the coach has been trusting me to play back to back in big games, I am very thankful for that. I will keep going and hopefully I can play again on Saturday and Tuesday."

NOT SHOCKED

"To be honest, I wouldn’t have been that shocked because I saw the players that we had and I saw what they did at Fulham. We didn’t put pressure on ourselves to finish in the playoffs, we just played how we play and it paid off. Now we are a team that can compete for a place in the Premier League. Considering Sunderland were in League One last season, you wouldn’t predict us to finish in the play offs. But, when you look at the team and quality we have it doesn’t shock me."

FRIENDS FOR LIFE

"You hear and see a lot of ex players win things and become friends for life. So, you might get a wall at the club with everyone’s name on it, or you might have a picture of the occasion in your house. You can then look at that and say you’ve played with said player and won this together. So, you really feel that you can make friends for life when you achieve something. I do understand what they mean, but I really want to know the feeling of it. I want to win the playoffs and get that feeling that we’ve done something bigger than us. We would put the club back in the Premier League where it belongs. If we do that it would be unbelievable."
