Johnson praised Defoe and played up his ties to the area and described his standards as ‘elite and top level’. Though Johnson said of a potential move ‘there are a million and one things that would have to happen for that to be beneficial to all parties’, Defoe’s admission that he is willing to continue his career and has been contacted by multiple clubs provides some space to dream of his possible return to the Stadium Of Light - will we turn out to be one of them?
