CLARKE'S FIRST INTERVIEW

In his first interview, Jack Clarke made clear his ambitions and gave insight into why he opted to join SAFC, despite offers from the Championship. Asked about the Bolton game the winger said he is 'feeling fit and feeling ready' and that he 'cant wait to get going and play in front of everyone' - so will we see him make his debut at the weekend?

CAN'T WAIT

'To be honest I cant wait to get started. Obviously its a massive club. I know how big the club is and how much it means to the fans and I cant wait to get going'

'I’m a player who likes to get on the ball, commit defenders, make things happen be creative and hopefully score goals and get assists and go from there.'

FAN BASE

‘A massive club, the fan base from what I’ve seen and what I've heard and stuff like that is meant to be next level.’

ROLE

(Johnson spoke about) the different roles I could take in the team, how he likes the team to work, playing fluid attacking football. Hopefully I fit right in. I always want to go to a team that plays nice football. From watching certain games obviously I saw him (Johnson) at Bristol as well and they always played nice football. That was definitely one of the main attractions to come here.'

LOAN

'To be honest I don’t think you can have a bad loan. Every time you go out on loan it shapes you in a different way whether you are playing or not playing. I want to help the team as much as possible, whether its goals assists or however else. I Couldn’t think of a better time (to come) to be honest.'

COLD

'When I was younger playing for Leeds obviously we used to play Sunderland a couple of times a year .I just remember it always being very cold... always good games. I remember playing up here it’s so cold all the time. If I remember correctly we used to the win the majority of them so it was always a good drive home.'

FAMILIAR FACES

'I was with Dennis for a spell at Tottenham . I really enjoyed playing with him - great lad on and off the pitch so excited to get back with him and Niall obviously growing up we came through the academy at Leeds together, I have known 10, 11, 12 years even before we were playing Sunday together so I've probably known Niall since I was 5-6... we've managed to cross paths again thankfully.'

BATTH

'Danny was a top lad when I went to Stoke welcomed me straight away and when I picked up the injury and had to go he was there for me and supported me through that. On the pitch he’s a top player... he knows what it takes to win at this level and hopefully will be a great addition to the squad.'
