CHAMPIONSHIP WISHLIST: PART TWO

This is the second part of my assessment of each Championship side for next season, and selecting one player from every team who I'd take at Sunderland. Again, I want to make it clear that some of these picks will be unrealistic. I’m just selecting one player I would take if I had the choice. I will also not be picking any loan players. Check out part one if you haven't already...

MILLWALL - ZIAN FLEMMING - MIDFIELDER

The Dutchman has had a great season at Millwall, scoring 15 goals from the number 10 position. He’s only 24 as well, so this pick is a no brainer.

NORWICH CITY - GABRIEL SARA - MIDFIELDER

The player I’d take from Norwich is 23 year old midfielder Gabriel Sara. The Brazilian got seven goals and four assists last season, so he’d be a good option. Plus, at the age of 23 there is still plenty of room to improve.

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE - MICHAEL COOPER - GOALKEEPER

Cooper is a good prospect and he’s helped Plymouth win promotion. A great achievement for Argyle. He’ll be good competition for Anthony Patterson and I’m confident he will be good enough to play in the Championship.

PRESTON NORTH END - BEN WHITEMAN - MIDFIELDER

Preston's team is one where nobody really stands out, so I’ll go with the experienced Ben Whiteman. Whiteman is a 6ft tall physical midfielder, so he adds more physicality to our side. Good competition for Ekwah.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS - ILIAS CHAIR - MIDFIELDER

The 25 year old Moroccan playmaker would be a good edition to any side at this level, and I think he would be a smart acquisition for a Premier League side like Brentford. He's a creative threat and so dangerous in the final third. He got five goals and nine assists last season in a poor QPR side, and he’s a real good set piece taker.

ROTHERHAM UNITED - VIKTOR JOHANSSON - GOALKEEPER

Johansson's great saves played a huge role in keeping Rotherham up last year and he’s arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the division. He’s only 24, so he has his whole career ahead of him. I know we don't need another keeper but he’d also be great competition for Patterson.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY - JOSH WINDASS - STRIKER

I think I’ll pick Josh Windass, he’s a pacey striker that bagged a brace against the Mags in the FA Cup last season. He’s a big game player who has a bit of an edge to his game and he showed that in the play-off final.

SOUTHAMPTON - JAMES WARD-PROWSE - MIDFIELDER

Another unrealistic pick, but I’d be a fool to not pick Ward-Prowse. The free kick specialist is coming into his prime years and he’s another player who is too good for this level. Southampton have reportedly slapped a £52 million price tag on his head, so we may see him stuck in the Championship for the foreseeable...

STOKE CITY - TYRESE CAMPBELL - STRIKER

Tyrese Campbell is a 23 year old striker who has picked up nine goals and five assists this season. He would be a good option for us to have, so I’m picking him - even though he plays under the bald Alex Neil.

SWANSEA CITY - JOEL PIROE - STRIKER

The Dutchman has been a goal machine for Swansea and he’s probably ready to make that step up to the Premier League. He bagged 20 goals in all competitions last season, and he’s only 23 years old. A really good threat up front.

WATFORD - ISMAILA SARR - WINGER

Out of all the Watford players I’d go with Sarr. I don’t think he’s this sensational winger every EFL pundit says he is, but he is the best option to go for and he would be a suitable Amad replacement.

WEST BROM - JED WALLACE - WINGER

Speaking of Amad replacements, Jed Wallace could help fill that void. At 29 he is at his peak, and every time I’ve seen him play he’s been a handful. Not to mention, his left-footed deliveries are great.
