CAPTAIN'S WEMBLEY PREVIEW

Corry Evans has previewed Saturday's game and is relishing the opportunity to play what will be his first ever game at Wembley. Hopefully he can follow in the footsteps of his brother Jonny, a promotion winner under Roy Keane, who will be in attendance at the weekend, cheering the Lads on. Corry has spoken about the team's mentality as well as giving his assessment of the opposition.

TRAINING

"We’re really looking forward to it. Training the last couple of days has been really sharp, really intense, teeing us up nicely for the week ahead. (The break) has been well received – we put a lot of effort into those two legs and its nice to get a little break, physically and mentally… we’re all back in training and ready to go."

SECOND LEG

"Personally I always thought we would score away there. Even when we went a goal down, we’re always a threat with the attacking players we have on the pitch, thankfully we managed to do it, albeit in the 93rd minute. But, we’ve been used to that, late goals in recent games. It’s nothing new, we’ve done it quite regularly in the last few months."

CUP FINAL

"A cup final anything can happen, we’ll just have to focus on ourselves and try and get the job done. Its going to be a tough game, Wycombe are there on their own merit and we’ll have to be at our very best to get a result."

MENTALITY

"Even with our celebrations after the (Sheffield Wednesday) game I don’t think it was over the top or anything, we’re just focused and said when we came in from the pitch at Hillsborough ‘one more to go’, that’s the mentality and the mindset of the squad – its not changed just because we’ve got to Wembley. As I said before, we’re looking forward to it."

WYCOMBE

"Cup final at Wembley Stadium, big pitch, big crowd. The two games that we’ve had (against Wycombe) well, I don’t really remember much of the second one because I got knocked out but I thought we played quite well down there in the first half and got a good lead and they managed to get a couple of late goals. They’re a physical side, their set pieces are strong. We watched their second leg against MK Dons in the hotel and they stayed in and kept MK Dons at bay, they’ve got that in abundance. Likewise, we have as well, and it will be a really tough game and we’re up for it."

WEMBLEY

"I’ve been (to Wembley) a few times, I was there last year watching my brother (Jonny) playing in the F.A. Cup final, but never played. It’s one I’m excited about to tick off the list. Promotion was the aim at the start of the year, we didn’t get it over the line in terms of automatics but the next best thing is through the play-offs . When I was given the captaincy, it was my aim to get the club promoted. It would be a great moment for myself to get us promoted."

JONNY EVANS

"I went to a couple (of Sunderland games) when I was just a young boy, he’ll be in the crowd (Jonny) he’s coming down from Leicester after training. It’ll be nice to have all the family there and hopefully it’ll be a memorable day for us all."

BACKING

"That night against Sheffield Wednesday in the first leg the atmosphere was electric , it’ll be great if we get the same at Wembley. We know they’ll be there in their numbers and pushing us on like they have done all season. Obviously, the squad are really grateful for the support we’ve got here at Sunderland. Just one more game to go we just have to get the job done."
