BEALE POST STOKE

Michael Beale praised his side's hard work after a much-needed win against Stoke.

HARD WORK PAID OFF

“The boys were absolutely fantastic. I’ve seen it in training and we wanted to reward ourselves in the game and I thought today we did. You could see a lot of players come off really physically tired today. The effort they put into the game, I’m delighted with them.”

BURSTOW/BA STARTED

“Firstly with Mason, he’s all in here. It’s been a tough year for him but he’s training every day and stays out and works on his finishing. He deserves a goal but it wasn’t just that, it was his all-round performance today. Abdoullah has been good since I’ve joined the club and he came back into the team today. I thought he was excellent and it was nice to see him get a goal.”

BURSTOW FIRST GOAL

“You could see he hadn’t played much football because he was tired, but it was his willingness to press for the team, he held the ball in against bigger stronger defenders today. It’s a striker’s goal. If you’re staying in between the goal frame the ball will come there. As I say, the boy puts all the work in everyday. He’s desperate to do well for the fans and for the club and tonight I’m absolutely delighted for him on a personal level.”

BEALE LOVES THE FANS

“Not just hare, but in every away stadium since I’ve joined the club the fans have been absolutely fantastic in their backing of the team. Today I thought it was how we want it to be here. Everyone together, the team on the pitch providing a performance the fans can get behind, and the fans really pushing the players on. That combination made it really difficult for Stoke. We’re away next week, we know they’ll travel for a local derby then when we’re back here for Plymouth, more of the same please!”
