POSITIVES TO TAKE
“I think there’s a lot of positives to take from both legs. We showed we’ve got quality on the ball and we can be disciplined without it. A lot of people were saying how good Fulham have been this season and we’ve got to remember where we’ve come from. We finished fifth in League One last season so progression is the key thing. I think today we showed spirit, fight, commitment and all the things that make a team a good team. Unfortunately Fulham edged the game and congratulations to them.”
YOUTH
“You look at the age of our team and there’s an element of being fearless. That’s what the fans want to see and that’s how we want to play. At times teams might punish us but we can hold our heads high and look forward to the weekend.”
FIRST PERIOD
“Fulham have a lot of quality and in the first ten minutes I thought we didn’t really get the press right, which is probably how it felt standoff-ish and the goal sort of resulted from that."
IMPROVED
"After that we fixed it and got to the ball better. Against a good team like that you have to show threat and I thought we did that, after the setback. It was tight and it could have gone either way. There was a foul, a little nudge on me for the corner, the referee doesn’t give it and a few phases later the ball’s in the back of your net. It’s just margins like that. I think the lads will take a lot of experience from today and hopefully that will stand us in good stead.”
BALLARD PARTNERSHIP
“Dan’s obviously come back into the team and done really well. I think both of us can go and keep improving and we can be a match for anyone going forward. We compliment each other in certain ways and whoever plays, I think we’ve got a good balance in defence and a bit of flexibility there as well. So it’s positive - obviously today we’ve conceded goals but we’ll look back and see where we can improve.”
FOCUS ON CHAMPIONSHIP
“Let’s see where it takes us. We’ve been picking up points at home and away. We can’t get too high and we can’t get too low. Let’s just see where the season takes us and keep pushing each other in training. It’s a good positive camp of teammates playing, and we play some really good stuff as well.”
