BAILEY WRIGHT ARRIVES ON LOAN

We have brought in Bailey Wright on loan from Bristol City until the end of the season. The Australian international is captain of Bristol City.

Phil Parkinson said: “We are delighted to welcome Bailey to the club. He is an experienced player and he has captained Bristol City. We are looking forward to working with him. He adds competition at the back, which is something I felt we needed, and he is an excellent character. He will be a valuable addition to the group."

Bailey had this to say about his loan move. “I'm a committed player. I like to think of myself as an honest, hard-working player and a leader. I love football, I love the horrible side of it, but I love the beauty of it as well. You'll get 100% from me every week. I'm a winner and that's what I'm here for. Conor McLaughlin is a good mate of mine, we did our apprenticeships together and he said nothing but good things about it here. You speak to various people, people who've played here and I've played here myself, and you realise how passionate and how much love there is here for football. That's what it's all about. What that manager is building here excites me and it’s something I want to be a part of. People in the area live and breathe football. For me, that will be amazing to play in front of every week. I want to be part of a successful Sunderland team. I'm coming here to earn that shirt, I'm not just expecting to have it. I'm here to earn it the team is in a great run of form with results and performances. I've been following Sunderland closely since I first found about the interest and it's good to see the team doing well. I'm here to compete, to push others and have others push me. It's exciting and hopefully I can kick on.”
