ALS ROUNDUP

As Ellis Simms has been dragged back to a struggling Everton we have already started eyeing up some replacements to fill the void that the 21 year old has left.

FORMER TARGET TAKEN

Before the start of the 22/23 season we were frequently linked with young Aston Villa forward Cameron Archer, but when they had Steven Gerrard in charge it looked like he was trying to integrate the youngster into the first team but that hasn’t materialised. Now the January window is open and Boro have looked the most likely to sign him on loan with reports stating Archer is expected to be at Middlesbrough today.

This is actually a positive for us though, with Boro having a new striker their interest in Ross Stewart will have go down and according to some, Boro were aware that they could have been used as a bargaining tool within the contract negotiations between Ross and SAFC.

SAM SURRIDGE?

Sam Surridge is a striker from newly promoted Nottingham Forest and he hasn’t seen much game time in the top flight this season and a loan looks most likely. We are one of the clubs with our eye on him but if we want to bring him to Wearside we will have to fend off Burnley for his signature.

JONSON CLARKE-HARRIS?

Another name mentioned as a potential signing is Jonson Clarke-Harris from Peterborough. He has done well with The Posh whilst he’s been there, and this season he has 13 goals in 24 games. One thing to note is that the signing of Clarke-Harris wouldn’t fit in with the recent trend of signing players under 25 as he is 28 years old but the last time he was in the Championship he did well.
