BATTH OUT

Sunderland today confirmed that Danny Batth will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury against Huddersfield Town. The centre back has been immense for the Lads this season, but limped off in the latter stages against the Terriers.

Even if Sunderland make the play-offs Batth won't feature, as he is expected to be back fit for pre-season in June following a period of rehabilitation. Joe Anderson could be in line to make his first Sunderland start on Sunday against West Brom, with Dan Ballard also ruled out - although Tony Mowbray is hoping to reintroduce the Northern Ireland defender for Sunderland's last two games.

BROWN BANKRUPT

In other news, former Sunderland defender Wes Brown has been declared bankrupt, just a few years after retiring from professional football. The former Premier League centre-half had a bankruptcy petition filed against him by HMRC on February 27 this year. The High Court approved the petition on April 12.

Brown played for Manchester United for 15 years, where reports claimed he earned around £50,000 per week. He joined Sunderland in 2011, staying until 2016 and reportedly earning a total of over £1 million.

Last year it was reported he had split from his wife Leanne, with whom he has three children.
