ALARM BELLS RINGING

Four defeats and two goals in four games. Leicester and Southampton next. A team sinking fast that is now as close to relegation as it is to the play-offs (nine points). These are truly alarming statistics.

With our one goal threat out for six weeks, the folly of relying on Jack Clarke to score goals and the scandalous failure to sign a centre forward in the last transfer window despite fans pleas are now coming home to roost big time.

With the season effectively over with two months to go, the inquisition has begun on how things have been allowed to go so horribly wrong so quickly.

The club’s ownership has some serious questions to answer, namely:

Why was Tony Mowbray sacked when we were still a serious play-off contender?

Why was Mowbray replaced with a man with no record of achievement who had to be sacked within nine weeks of his appointment?

Why was no striker signed in the January transfer window despite the fact that it was obvious to everyone that this was what was desperately needed to have a credible chance at promotion?

It’s an appalling catalogue of mismanagement, neglect and wrong decisions that has effectively sunk our season and the club’s ownership must be held to account for it.
