News & Stuff

Bryan Oviedo has been chatting about his failed move to West Brom and why it all fell through. "I was notified at 6pm I travelled about three hours from my house, I did the medical tests and I signed, but in the end it was 11:05 and I saw that something was strange. I asked my representative and he told me that they supposedly did not send the documents before 11pm."

However, Stewart Donald told another story: “Why that didn't happen is down to West Brom and Bryan, not Sunderland. We agreed for him to go. They didn't complete the deal."

On the injury front, Lee Cattermole is set to miss the trip to Oxford after picking up an ankle injury in training last Thursday: "Lee picked up an ankle injury on Thursday," Jack Ross said. "He's likely to be out for a week or two."

In other news, Lewis Morgan has been chatting about his loan move to SAFC and why he turned down moves to SPL and Championship teams to work with Jack Ross again. “As soon as the chance came up to come here my mind was made up,” he said. “I’m working with a coaching staff I’ve got massive respect for, a massive club, it’s something I’m excited about. I never thought about it in terms of the league I’m coming to. It was about the club – great facilities, massive club, that would interest everyone. I think it’s well documented that there was interest from the Championship down here and the Premiership up north, but it’s a massive club with great people. I’m very happy to be part of it. It’s an exciting time for the club, challenging at the top end of the table. I’m here to help us push up the table. Jack and his staff improve every player. The training sessions are great and they give you that licence to express yourself in the final third. As an attacking player that’s what you want. Aiden and I are both very direct, we like to take our man on. Hopefully we can both dovetail and keep building on that performance on Saturday. You just want to play games,” Morgan commented. “Hopefully I can keep my place in the team. I know there’s good players here with good quality, there’s always going to be competition for places. I’ve been playing since I was 17 so it’s important to keep that going. There’s new players coming in so it maybe takes a wee while to get things clicking, we’ll have a full week of training now to prepare for the next game so I’m sure we’ll get that fluidity back. I’m disappointed I didn’t score that chance in the first half, that’s probably down to a lack of games up the road. The most important thing was to win. It’s something to build on.”
