Four Signings Imminent...

Stewart Donald has confirmed that the club as close to three new signings with a fourth already done and dusted. Fans have been eager for the new regime to start the rebuild needed to begin our assault on League One and it looks like an announcement will be imminent: "Details Thursday but can’t mention names for obvious reasons," Donald explained. "We have 4 very close. 1 CB 1 CM 2 Forwards. Contract done on 1 and the other 3 very close. Hoping they will be in over next few days and a few players likely to go the other way. Thursday I will update in more detail."

The SAFC owner is due for an exclusive interview with ALS on Thursday. Donald will reveal further details then: "I will go through the detail with A Love Supreme and Roker Report Thursday to explain where the club are at and why with Paddy McNair. We also have offers out on five or six players well before we accepted the offer. We can sign before we sell and again I will cover this all off then."

Meanwhile, Charlie Methven has been chatting about working alongside fans’ group, The Red and White Army. Methven said: “What we’re trying to do here is lay a foundation for the club to grow and that needs everybody being on the same page. It doesn’t mean everyone agreeing, but everyone starting on the same page. When we appointed the new manager (Jack Ross) one of the key elements was is this man going to be part of that team. We don’t want a manager who is going to lock himself away and just be a first team guy. He had to someone who will engage with the fans and understands that will be a huge part of their job. And that goes for all of the appointments we make right through the entire club. We need to build this one club mentality. If you get that bedrock right then once things start to fly, things really fly. And if you then hit some sticky patches further down the track you’re all in it together. You’re not fighting against each other. Ultimately, we all have the same goal and that’s to make this club successful. Over the last 15 years the relationship with the fans and the club has completely broken down and the rebuilding of that relationship is an absolute necessity if we’re going to make it fulfil its maximum potential.”

Elsewhere, Brighton are in talks with Jason Steele, they must be mental…

In other news, St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has hit out at SAFC after it was reported we'd made an approach for his goalkeeping coach Paul Mathers without his knowledge. Wright refused to reveal if any Skulduggery was used: “I’m very disappointed but I suppose nothing should surprise you in football these days. If it was me, the first thing I would do if I wanted to speak to another manager’s member of staff would be to pick up the phone. Jack Ross is a new manager in the game and maybe the new breed do things differently. The fact that he hasn’t phoned me or answered my calls tells you more about him. It’s underhand and disrespectful – to me and to the club. It’s out of order. I would have thought a club like Sunderland would have done their business properly. I’m still hoping that Paul will stay. He agreed a new contract 10 days ago after interest from Dundee United, who acted with total professionalism.”
