Sunderland made it two wins from two following the March international break, moving us to within touching distance of confirming the playoffs. A wonderful Trai Hume goal directly from a free kick was ultimately the difference in the West Midlands.
ANTHONY PATTERSON: 8.5/10
Made two important saves late on and commanded his box far better than he has in recent matches. Deserved clean sheet.
LUKE O’NIEN: 8/10
Drew a lot of fouls to alleviate pressure and generally looked solid defensively aside from giving the ball away once in the second half that caused some danger.
CHRIS MEPHAM: 8/10
Also solid defensively, made numerous clearances. Could have done better in the air at times though.
TRAI HUME: 9/10
An absolutely fantastic strike from him to win us the game, loved putting a foot in throughout. In the last ten minutes or so he looked tired and let a few crosses into the box happen a tad too easily.
CHRIS RIGG: 7.5/10
A good performance from the youngster, definitely held his own today. Did well getting forward but lacked a killer instinct with the final ball.
DAN NEIL: 8.5/10
Twisted and turned his way both out of trouble or and into good positions several times. Seemed to always spot the right pass. Missed a chance to have a shot right at the death because he took too long with it.
JOBE BELLINGHAM: 7.5/10
Wasn’t as present as Neil but contributed defensively effectively.
ALAN BROWNE: 7/10
Perfectly passable from him. Never looked too uncomfortable with his defending.
ROMAINE MUNDLE: 6.5/10
He was beginning to grow into the game before he went off injured. Looked threatening and pacy once or twice and had a decent effort about 20 minutes in.
WILSON ISIDOR: 6/10
It never came off for him in the opponent’s half because his work rate wasn’t always the best. Worked a really good chance in stoppage time saying that though.
PATRICK ROBERTS: 6/10
Just the one shot from him today and I remember a particularly poor corner that hit the first man. Not too much threat from him but he wasn’t poor.
SUBS:
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 7/10
Deputised for Mundle really well out on the left, his dribbling a particular highlight. End product was somewhat lacking, unlucky to get shown a yellow because I think he was the one fouled.
LEO HJELDE: 7/10
Got beaten for pace on one occasion but headed the ball away loads and did the smart thing late on and ran to the corner rather than trying to cross into the danger area.
ENZO LE FÉE: 6.5/10
Nothing particularly flashy but did his job and is obviously still recovering his fitness.
MILAN ALEKSIĆ: N/A
Was on the pitch for a matter of minutes, so no rating, but good to see him back involved.
