STOP BEING STUBBORN

I asked the question after the woeful defeat against Bournemouth that time would tell whether Le Bris would make the radical changes needed to get us out of the relegation mire. Sadly, as I suspected, he hasn’t.
My heart sank when he predictably trotted out the same line-up (bar injuries and suspensions) against Coventry and ignored the attacking players who shone against Brentford during the week.
We are now in the absurd position where the supposed ‘best 11’ Le Bris has stuck stubbornly by in the Premier League is demonstrably worse than the supposed ‘second string’ playing in the Carabao Cup and Europa League.
The Frenchman is now facing calls to be sacked after one hapless performance too many. He has faced fierce criticism for an overly cautious and inflexible approach that has failed to react to what dire fare has been served up in the Premier League.
Take Ta Bi, who excelled against Brentford, for example. When faced with calls to get him into the team, Le Bris was worryingly unconvincing in his response saying he no longer believed the side was balanced with two wingers, despite having played with this system for the vast majority of last season to far more potent effect.
In addition, when questioned on whether Ta Bi would start in the Premier League, Le Bris evasively replied that ‘every game was important’. To put the Premier League on the same level as the Europa League and Carabao Cup is patent nonsense when our top tier survival already hangs in the balance.
Having promised to give Ta Bi a gentle introduction with 20 minute slots in the Premier League, he didn’t get a single minute despite the calamitous performance at Coventry. Once again, fans were left scratching their heads at the latest in a string of bizarre selection calls which has left them questioning whether the coach has lost the plot.
It is sad to say for someone who has delivered so much success for us over the last two seasons, but if Le Bris does not change his ways dramatically now he will have to go before it’s too late.
