SON OF SOBS: FULHAM

We're back at the SOL!

What a summer its been. The international malarky had passed the time nicely and our players had increased their net worth with some standout performance. Basking in the miraculous hard fought spoils of 25/26 our summer has mainly been spent patiently watching our club solidifying our foundations. Big Man left us, leaving behind a legacy that got us where we are today. A few carefully selected areas of the squad had been bolstered, aside from that we retained everyone we wanted to, despite interest from bigger clubs. RLB dismissed the murmurings from the press that we were doomed this season to underlined his confidence in the squad. Anyway, you know all that...

Daft Super Sunday kick off - 2pm.

After last weeks deflating start in the arse of England we return to the our first home affair of the season. I wrote a report last week as I was watching but I had to leave before our defensive brain fart in the closing minutes to go play a gig. So I wasn't that inspired to finish it on the Sunday. In a nutshell - not great, only a couple of brain farts in it.

We began well with Hume getting his legs a bit back to front after being put through by XG. We came out with chalk on our boot attempting to stretch the visitors. We also debuted our still sponsorless home shirt. Smart. Once we started to press we were giving them less time on to think than Boris Johnson's hairdresser.

Nordi had replaced O9 at the back and was pouncing from defence to attack with gusto. One shot on target within the first 20 from Meunier wasn't exactly inspirational. Our defence was questioned on 25 minutes for their man to blaze over the bar. We were penalised for a high foot, when it was actually a low head. Bassey resorted to a bit of diving with a fall that wouldn't have looked out of place in Home Alone. Karma played out as they received yella after thwarting a quick link up between Reinildo and Nilson by pushing Angulo to the floor.

The weight of pressure seemed to be showing each team we got to the final third as we fluffed things every time it got to the final ball. Not for want of trying as we often saw either Nordi or BDB (Big Dan Ballard) amongst the forward line.

Goalless at the break with the best opportunities going the way of the visitors.

Second half how the first half ended. A bit meh.

Angulo had to be sidelined after a cruncher saw him take a bit of a knock...or flail around a bit too much. I couldn't tell. Even with 10 players we continued to press as the Lads looked to inspire the SoL. Nordi seemed to be losing his rag a bit as he's screamed at the officials over throw in that didn't go our way. Castagne clattered Nilson again in what surely must have been his final warning of the afternoon. A cracking tackle by Nordi stopped another attack on the break. That was the third this time afternoon Fulham had done this. Our high press meant the lads had to track back even further when they did lose the ball and 60 minutes in we were beginning to flag with ideas.

RLB looked to remedy this as Diarra and Wilson came on for Angulo and BBB (I'll let you figure that one out). Fulham followed suit with a double change. This did the trick as we woke up a bit. A beautiful ball over the top lead to Wilson managed to somehow hit the woodwork. The replay showed it wasn't a bad strike as he had to get it past the keeper, but not enough to get it the right side of the post. The RAWA rallied cries of 'Haway the Lads' as we gave it a push on the edge of the final 20 minutes. Still one shot on target.

On 75 mins after the Fulham lads fell asleep at the back, some slick play from us put it on a plate for Wilson again. Who scranned it with aplomb.

1-0. GERRUP.

The subs had really made the difference. Habib has seemed to set up camp on the right wing as was on fire... and so was his hamstring, so he sat down for a bit.

The final ten saw 4 minutes added on as well as Romaine Mundle who wasted no time in registering our 3 shot on target of the afternoon.

Fulltime 1-0. Get in

Not exactly an explosive awe inspiring affair but we got the job done. We weren't great but Fulham were about as stable as Bassey's waist band. With two days left of the transfer window I hope bolster the offensive line.

11th place. Job done
