ROEFS POST WREXHAM

Robin Roefs was glad to get his first pre-season minutes under his belt, playing an hour as we defeated Wrexham 1-0.

GOOD TO BE BACK

“It felt good, especially with the sun, it’s good to play and good to be back with the boys. I arrived last week but it’s really nice to see everyone again. I’m also glad to be back playing.”

CLEAN SHEET

“Obviously it was not 90 minutes for me, so it doesn’t really count as a full clean sheet, but I was happy to be back and play 60 minutes without really conceding any chances. That was nice.”

SQUAD ATMOSPHERE

“They’re all good guys and it’s a really good environment, everyone is so good with each other. We’re really enjoying our time together with really hard work in training, I think we combine it really well. Off the pitch we are friends with each other but on the pitch we work hard and push each other. I think today it was a good fight and (Wrexham) put up a good fight, they were really physical and I think we matched it really well. Obviously there are some things we could do better but I think we matched the fight really well.”

READY TO GO PROPERLY

“For me, I just joined back up with them but for the rest of the guys it’s already been a little pre-season and most of the time, as soon as you start with pre-season and feel like you’re getting a little bit closer to your best condition, you just want it to start. Especially after a season like the last one, and how we finished it, we want to get started again.”

FANS IN THE USA

“It doesn’t surprise me from the moment I came here but even the previous years in the Championship, from what I heard from the guys they come and follow us everywhere. It doesn’t matter where you play, what time it is, they will be there. We really feel that during the season but even here, all the cities we’ve been to we’ve been cheered on. It’s an honour to play for them.”
