RLB PRE LIVERPOOL

ree

In his pre match presser ahead of our midweek trip down to the current Premier League Champions of Liverpool our gaffer, Regis Le Bris, touched on the outcome of the Bournemouth game whilst also looking ahead to one of the toughest weeks in his managerial career.

Before diving into the Liverpool game, Regis spoke more about the Bournemouth game and how we managed to pull off the comback.

WORST WEATHER VS B’MOUTH?

"Last season we had one or two like that!"

WHAT SPARKED THE COMEBACK?

“I don’t think that we had a specific trigger to change the dynamic, I think we kept working hard because we were dominant with and without the ball and mistakes can happen, it’s possible. It doesn’t mean that you have to give up, just keep going. In football we know that if we score once, the dynamic can change and that was the case after the penalty.”

CHARACTER

“Yeah absolutely, character, confidence, teamwork, the ability to connect with the stadium, the fans and we know that just one decision made on the pitch can shift the momentum. The crowd feel the energy and I think the opponent does as well. Because we have experienced this situation before I think now we can manage it properly.”

Heading away to the current Premier League Champions is never an easy task regardless of their form. RLB is confident that his squad won't be drawn into the rowdy atmosphere that Anfield can create and he will be making sure all the lads stick to the task.

ANFIELD

“Yeah, we worked hard to have the privilege to play this kind of game. I think it’s a great honour to be in that position, especially for the positive dynamic. So, it’s a challenging situation, tough game but we want to live these kinds of experiences.”

PLAY THE GAME, NOT THE OCCASION

“Yeah, we’ll see. I think it’s another game in a really special place. I think even if we have a younger team, we now have good experience and they want to be competitive because otherwise we would be a spectator, and we don’t want to be a spectator. Liverpool will be strong, 100%. The place is impressive but at the same time we want to be competitive.”

LIVERPOOL WOES

"Every team I think can struggle at times because this league is tough. They play in the champions league as well, so they have so many games. So sometimes it’s a just a question of confidence, a question of different events and you can struggle for a short period. They were strong against West Ham. They were dominant, as expected and I think well have to show the best version of Sunderland to be competitive."

CHALLENGING WEEKS

"Its probably one of the strongest weeks of my life from a football perspective, at the same time it’s the most exciting probably because we’ve got a strong squad, a good dynamic, the players are so well connected that we can say that we want to be competitive. After that, we know that those squads are really strong so they can change the dynamic with one, two or three players but we’ll give it our best."

WORRY ABOUT US NOT THEM

"They have probably three, four, five, six dangerous players on the pitch, I might say eleven so we don’t focus too much on the individuals. It’s about us as a squad. We will play this game with bravery, with strong teamwork and if we are in this situation and we work hard, after that we won’t have any regret. So, we’ll see."

PRE GAME ROUTINE

"Yes, I’m really focused on the game. I have one or two minutes to look at the stadium and after that you have to be 100% focused to try managing the game in real time, it can help the squad so I try not to be too disturbed or distracted by the stadium."
