RLB PRE BURNLEY

Regis Le Bris wants a reaction from his team after last weekend's defeat at West Ham, and insists that this won't be an easy game despite Burnley's league position. After all, they're unbeaten in three and beat us earlier in the season...

NOT A BAD SIDE

“This is the Premier League. They are struggling in the league but still doing well. They’ve drawn three times in a row and deserved at least two wins I think, after reviewing the games. So, they are doing well but probably with a lack of efficiency which is often the case. They can build up play under pressure, they can go direct, they have an efficient high press, so it is a question of detail. Key moments will define this game once again. For us, we lost against West Ham and it wasn’t our best version, the intensity wasn’t high enough. We reviewed the game and the lads have trained well, so now words are words but it’s time to go back to our stadium and show that we are at the level.”

RESPONSE IS NEEDED

“Absolutely, it is always the case. After a win you don’t want to step back, after a defeat you want to react quickly. This is the normal journey. Emotions are there, when you lose you are always a bit negative but we have had time to recover and reset. I hope we will be at our best against Burnley.”

BROBBEY HITTING FORM

“Absolutely. He is getting better physically now and I think he’s at the level of the Premier League. He can fight with the centre backs, he can run, he can counter-press, he can defend. I think he’s getting more confident with his teammates as well for the connections and the relationships they’re building together. We need to learn what kind of balls he needs, to feet or in behind, so it is a question of adjustment. He scores goals, which for a striker is really important.”

REVERSE FIXTURE @ BURNLEY

“It was early in the season. It showed that we had good control on the ball but we were not efficient in the offensive third. In our own defensive third, it think it was more or less the same case as West Ham. It is a reminder of the efficiency you have to have in this league because key moments will define games. You can be balanced and you will have an opponent with a unique style of play, how they defend, how they press, how they build up and attack, but key moments define the outcome. Away at Burnley, they were better than us at that part of the game.”

WINDOW CLOSES SAME DAY

“My main focus is the squad. We have people behind the scenes, Flo (Ghisolfi) and Kristjaan (Speakman) and Kyril (Louis-Dreyfus) who are woking hard with the recruitment structure and on that topic we are connected, but for me the main focus is the team and the way we will play against Burnley.”

UNBEATEN AT HOME

“First I think it shows the strong connection we have with our fans and with this place, and it shows that we have a strength. An extra key factor which is really useful, so we’ll keep doing it. If we lose a game then it is still possible, it doesn’t mean that we’ll lose this home X-Factor. For me, the sequence is the sequence, it is beautiful and we can talk about it, but the most important thing we have is the connection, the strength, the belief, the responsibility as a team when we are 1-0 down for example. We want to react. Away it is often a bit more difficult but at home we always show that this energy and connection is a key factor for us.”

ADJUST THE 40 POINT TARGET?

“Maybe, we will see at the end. For us, this is the main target. Seven more points and then we will see. We don’t want to stop at that target but as soon as possible, if we can reach 40 points then we will see.”

BURNLEY POSSESSION HEAVY

“They were strong defensively as well, they conceded very few goals. It is a new story, I think it’s always a new story. Maybe it’s the same manager and the core of the group is a bit similar, but it’s a new journey and you always need to adapt. You never know how the group will evolve. At the minute we are doing well and they are struggling, but it doesn’t mean that they’ve given up. That is not the case. They are playing good football and are just on the edge for that switch. For us, we want to control the game and be proactive and the intensity will be key.”
