RLB POST SPURS

ree

Regis Le Bris is remaining level-headed as always, and insists that hitting the 40 point mark is still the aim before we get ahead of ourselves...

GAME BY GAME

“At the minute, nothing. We’re focused on the game only. It shows the consistency of the project and the quality of the squad. The teamwork in this club is impressive. So, it’s really positive at that point to have these 30 points. We need 10 more, probably, so it’s time to move on and to ride the wave.”

SURVIVAL STILL THE AIM

“Not yet, not yet. I would like, but not yet. I think it’s important to stay consistent, and we want to set this first limit. And after that, we’ll see if we can change something else.”

POINTS FROM LOSING POSITIONS

“Yeah, sometimes it’s easier to take risks when you have nothing to lose. So, it wasn’t really the case today, even if we were in a position to chase the game. So, it wasn’t a risky option. It was a more balanced option, I think, in this situation.”

POOR FIRST HALF

“I think against a strong man, it’s always tough to go short. We played City three days ago, and probably half and half, they went short with probably one of the best teams with the ball in Europe. 50% of the time, and 50% of the time, they went long. So, against man for man, I think you have to manage those two options. They were not bad because they were really efficient in this way of playing, which I think is the most important thing. They created chances. They were not efficient, not clinical, which was a good thing for us. But I think they managed this part of the game properly, especially during the first half.”

GREW INTO IT

"Yeah, we felt something when I think we had the ball in the middle, and we started to create good chances with crosses, especially from the right side. And the connections got better. Sometimes you don’t know why exactly. It’s just a question of feeling, confidence, timings, tempos and so on. So, we felt it, yeah.”

NEEDED TO IMPROVE

“We had a lack of energy and just one needle down, it was possible to switch on, which probably we were a bit lucky because in a Premier League game, when you don't play at your best, you should be punished. And it wasn't the case, so we were still alive. And we said, just switch on, do simple things well, because I think tactically we were OK. It was just a question of being more composed with the ball, the ability to win the first contact, because they went direct, as expected, against our man-for-man press. And we didn't win the first contact, the second ball, so the balance of the game was like that. And we had the character and the quality to switch on, and I think it's positive.”

BALLARD SUB CHANGED THINGS

"It wasn't possible to play with Ballard in the first half because of his injury. We didn't want to rush the process. I think in this game, especially when you go directly to Richarlison, once, twice but 20 times, I don't know how many, you need two strong centre-backs with a specific profile. Nordi and Omar did well, but Ballard is a weapon in that case, so he helped. And Nordi, I think, was good on the right side as well, to deliver crosses and to use the big spaces. Finally, to deliver this key pass at the end.”

ISIDOR WAS MISSING

“It's a small injury, probably minor. I hope he will be available for Brentford.”
