Regis Le Bris shared his thoughts on Sunderland's goalless draw against Manchester United and was disappointed that we didn't actually come away from the game with all three points.
COULD HAVE WON IT
“I think we created enough chances to score. We were not clinical, which is a shame because I think overall the game was good and the lads worked well together to be able to contain the opposition’s threats - we know that Manchester United have many gamechangers and were on a strong run, they had just one shot on target at the end which shows that we defended really well. We created chances as well, it is always a balance of how you protect your goal but at the same time having to be bold to create something . I think the balance was positive but it is always a question of maturity in the final third.”
BACK TO OUR BEST
“In the Premier League the level is so high that even with a small mistake, the opponent can score or shoot and create something. The mentality of the squad was really positive, we’ve felt it during the last two weeks after the last defeat at home, and back to our level of consistency and togetherness. If we are disappointed after a draw with Manchester United then I think that’s a good sign.”
ANGULO IS BACK
“Because the starting 11 did so well today, it wasn’t easy to change the players but it’s still possible for the wingers, because they have to defend a lot but still have to run and create offensively. Now, our wingers are back. They need patience to find their best form but at least for 15 or 20 minutes it is possible. I think Nilson did well.”
HOME FORM
“We are trying to build a fortress. Sometimes the opponent can find a solution but overall the consistency was good which shows that we are doing well.”
FINAL TWO GAMES
“We had this question after Leeds when we reached our 40-point target - are we still motivated? I think so, but it is always important to find a new objective and probably our objective is to win. You work hard every week for that. We have two fantastic games because the Premier League is so exciting. Going to Everton, it’s a beautiful stadium and they have a strong team, so we’ll go for this fixture with a winning mentality. And then we will have this last game against Chelsea at home.”
