RLB POST HEARTS

ree

Regis Le Bris was not happy with Sunderland's display in Scotland and is hoping for something different against Hull as we prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.

WAKE-UP CALL

"A tough result and a tough game. I think for the first time this pre-season we faced a team with high intensity and direct play man-for-man and we struggled. It’s obvious to say that the result is the consequence of the way we played. It is time to step in because obviously we worked hard and maybe we are a bit tired but it is not an excuse at the end of this game. We are a bit disappointed because we missed this opportunity to grow again through this pre-season. It is a strong reminder that sometimes you need a punch in the face to say “hello, the season has started” and this was the case. Hopefully it will be a strong signal to raise our level, especially the intensity with duals and the way we have to be dominant in 1v1s. If that is not possible then we have to play together to compensate, and that was not the case today.”

DIFFERENT STYLE TO PORTUGAL

“We faced a different style of play. It can be difficult sometimes because (in Portugal) we had a slower game with more short passes and that style was maybe easier to manage. Today it was British football and I think that will be the case in the Premier League as well. So, we have had different experiences and this one was tough. We are not happy at the end of this game. We’ll come into the Premier League in the new season and it is important to step up.”

ONTO HULL

“The result is the result. We don’t have to be in a rush with the development of the squad, it is always like that, but the intensity and the commitment we have to have as a team I think we’ll have to show something different.”
