RLB ON TIGERS & BEES

Regis Le Bris spoke about Sunderland's last two games, the impressive first half performance at Brentford and the encouraging display from our fringe players against Hull City.
SQUAD DEPTH
“I think we’ve used 24 players over the last two games! 11 changes against Hull and we were still competitive and I think we deserved the win. It shows that the identity and the standards are still the same. It takes time to build the depth of the squad but it was obvious that we played with the same identity, style and profile as a team. I think we have more options coming off the bench now.”
NEW SIGNINGS BEDDING IN
“I think that they speak football, which is perfect. After that, French or English, it doesn’t matter. It is really easy to integrate our dressing room and the new players who are joining now feel at home, more or less. It’s easy to connect with the lads, the coaching staff and the fans. It’s like a family here.”
BRENTFORD PERFORMANCE
“If we compare Brentford away last year and Brentford away this year, we can feel the improvement in the squad and the depth of the squad as well. It’s a positive. Maybe we would have liked to score a goal in the first half just to enjoy the result of that first half performance. I think we managed the scenario well after conceding the goal too, it was important to react. It was the case last season, it is still the case this season, with our subs and the character of the squad. We are growing up, we are improving the squad. It is always a reset because the next game is always difficult.”
ANGULO IMPROVEMENT
“He arrived in the middle of the winter last year which is not an easy period, especially when you join a team in the middle of their journey. He got a long injury really early. He’s a nice person and a really good player with a different culture so it takes time to adapt. I think the World Cup also helped his confidence, he played a few good games and now he’s getting better game after game. As usual he needs experience and needs support because he is talented, but the difference between the talent and the final performance is helped by support, time and confidence. I think it is just the beginning for him.”
