Regis Le Bris reacted to Sunderland's embarrassing defeat at Port Vale.
DISAPPOINTMENT
“First of all I’m disappointed for the club, the players and for our fans obviously. We tried, we wanted to go further. The game was tough as expected, the FA Cup is relentless and full credit to our opponent - they played with passion and intensity. Many second balls, many counter-attack situations, but they created one situation in the first half and scored. We struggled to find the solution later.”
NOT GOOD ENOUGH
“At the end of the game in the dressing room, I spoke about how fragile the performance is. Three days before we had Leeds and won an important game with these values, but consistency is key. You always have to reset and go again no matter who the opponent is. Today, they played a good game so full credit to Port Vale, but we didn’t show enough to win it.”
FOCUS ON THE LEAGUE
“It’s important to keep the overview of the season. We are disappointed today, that is true, but at the same time the team is still in a good place. It is important to stay consistent and when you drop your level just a bit, you will get punished really quickly. It’s a good reminder for the next fixture in the Premier League, and after that we will try our best.”
