RATINGS V QPR

Sunderland ended the regular season with a whimper, losing out via an early Queens Park Rangers goal from Nicolas Madsen. We offered very little and the 90 minutes gave practically no reasons to be confident going into the play off semi finals versus bogey team Coventry City.

ANTHONY PATTERSON: 6/10

Had very little to do all game, the goal wasn’t his fault. Distribution fairly average.

TRAI HUME: 5/10

Crosses all over the shop and overall poor going forward (who wasn’t?), defensively wasn’t too busy.

CHRIS MEPHAM: 4/10

His positioning was atrocious for the goal, did ok other than that to be fair though. Not fantastic in the air.

LUKE O’NIEN: 5.5/10

Actually managed to have a decent effort on goal in the first half, perfectly passable with his defensive work but nothing too special from him.

DENNIS CIRKIN: 4/10

Got skipped past really easily in the runup to us conceding. Like Mepham, he had an alright match after this. Crossing wasn’t brilliant saying that though.

DAN NEIL: 4/10

Couldn’t touch them when things got physical, had a couple of half-decent moments in the final third but it was few and far between.

JOBE BELLINGHAM: 4.5/10

Slightly better than Neil but couldn’t cope when tussling for possession either, always felt like he could do a bit more when we attacked.

PATRICK ROBERTS: 4.5/10

A lot of huffing and puffing but ultimately the house did not come down, the story of the second half of his season really. Almost caused something with a cross into Ballard.

CHRIS RIGG: 4/10

Made 28 touches, so he can’t really be said to have been impactful. I think, probably due to his age and development, he’s always going to struggle a bit more against more physical sides, especially when we aren’t forcing the game to be played at a quick pace.

ENZO LE FEE: 4.5/10

Got lots of crosses away, none of them were very good. He did actually make the keeper save something though and I think a few of the passes he received were rather poor so he had to work extra hard to do anything with them.

ELIEZER MAYENDA: 5/10

Came so close to scoring just minutes after the goal and didn’t have enough service after this. Had a couple of decent dribbles but nothing came off for him.

SUBS:

DAN BALLARD: 7/10

Coped well defensively and almost found the back of the net, he actually showed a lot of desire to get involved with our attacks as well. Really good to see him back.

TOMMY WATSON: 6/10

Looked promising to be fair to him, I just don’t think 15 minutes is long enough to really grow into the game and then make a meaningful impact.

WILSON ISIDOR: 5.5/10

Got bullied a bit but he did force a save at least.
