Sunderland battled to a hard-fought point in South London, with the game ending in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. We didn’t register a single shot on target in the 90 minutes but Robin Roefs shone at the other end of the pitch, making six saves.
ROBIN ROEFS: 10/10
A series of late saves from Roefs prevented a number of certain goals and ensured we’d not have come all the way to London for nothing. Also had a really good command of his box today.
TRAI HUME: 8/10
Did really well defensively and was happy to help out going forward, even if he wasn’t entirely effective in the opposition’s half.
NORDI MUKIELE: 8.5/10
Gave their attackers little to work with in the first half and was key in the second when we were under the cosh.
OMAR ALDERETE: 8.5/10
Made a key block early on in the second half and was solid throughout.
REINILDO: 8.5/10
The same as all of our defenders, barely put a foot wrong at the back. Had a couple of decent runs forward too.
HABIB DIARRA: 7.5/10
Didn’t notice him a lot in the first half but he had a much more lively second 45. Probably could have done better with his one shot.
GRANIT XHAKA: 8/10
Generally came out better when challenging for the ball, had one or two dodgy moments but he was very good.
NOAH SADIKI: 8.5/10
One of our best players today, didn’t notice any errors from him. Caused Palace all sorts of problems.
CHEMSDINE TALBI: 7/10
He was the closest any Sunderland player came to scoring today, unfortunately his effort was blocked. Aside from that it just never really came off for him but there were a few flashes of what he can do.
WILSON ISIDOR: 5/10
A few half chances but he was never really involved in any significant way. Just 16 touches and when he was moved out left he didn’t fare too much better. I just thought his movement was all wrong today.
SIMON ADINGRA: 7.5/10
Very lively and didn’t make life easy for their defence. Created Talbi’s chance.
SUBS:
BRIAN BROBBEY: 6/10
Hard to judge him based off his first seven touches as a Sunderland player, there were a couple of decent moments and he looked eager.
LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: N/A
No rating because he came on after the 80th minutes. Nice to see him make his debut.
CHRIS RIGG: N/A
Wasn’t on the pitch longer than a couple of minutes, almost broke away right at the death but just didn’t have the pace.
