Sunderland drew with Jarred Gillett at the Vitality Stadium, ending a streak of three league losses in a row. In my opinion, we played well enough to win but a couple of little errors let us down. As well as this, the Second Coming of Jesus (at least that’s how he sees himself) made so many errors in the refereeing department that, if it were a driving test, his instructor would have bolted out of the car within 60 seconds.
ROBIN ROEFS: 7/10
He made four really good saves but it was his error that ultimately cost us the extra two points, getting caught underneath Tavernier's cross. Seemed a bit too casual a lot of the time.
LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 7/10
Good defensively, not so good when going forward. His forward balls in particular were lacking.
DAN BALLARD: 8/10
It was a huge test for him today and he definitely passed. Showed a lot of desire which contributed to the point. It was his pass which found Diarra in the buildup to our opener.
OMAR ALDERETE: 8/10
Technically Omar was bested for the goal but it was a dubious decision. Similar to Ballard really, he wasn’t flawless but he had a lot to deal with.
TRAI HUME: 6.5/10
His passing wasn’t great and neither was his crossing. Still, got stuck in as always. A great battle between him and Rayan.
NOAH SADIKI: 7.5/10
He wasn’t on the ball enough for me to go any higher. He had a few good moments and was very unlucky to get booked.
GRANIT XHAKA: 8.5/10
The difference in quality we had after he went off was stark. A game without fault for the skipper? No, but we are an entirely different opposition when he’s on the pitch.
CHEMSDINE TALBI: 5.5/10
Nothing to shout about from him today, didn’t do an awful lot in the parts of the pitch that mattered.
HABIB DIARRA: 8.5/10
Caused our goal with a decent shot. I thought he left himself vulnerable once or twice after doing some tricks but, other than that, he was really good.
ENZO LE FEE: 9/10
Our best player in my opinion. He should have won a penalty and was always there in the middle of the park.
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 8/10
Really really good to see him back in the team for a proper runout. Scored as, so you can’t complain a lot. Maybe weak once or twice.
SUBS:
BERTRAND TRAORE: 5/10
Found it difficult to make an impact.
NILSON ANGULO: 6/10
Didn’t have a lot of time to do anything but had a go.
WILSON ISIDOR: N/A
Off the bench for a matter of seconds.
