QUICK CATCH UP WITH ALLY MCCOIST

Sunderland's excellent victory against Newcastle United was a little while ago now due to the international break and FA Cup fixtures, but we're still gloating on Wearside! Ally McCoist, speaking to talkSPORT Bet, praised Regis Le Bris and the Lads...

“Regis Le Bris deserves enormous credit. And I must admit, I didn't expect them to win at Newcastle, but it didn't surprise me. For example, it wasn't the biggest shock in the world. It wasn't, because they're a team, actually, I think they're so well organised and well drilled. They know their shape, they know exactly what to do, and when they're out of possession they'll make it tough for any team at all.”

“I've watched them a good few times this season. They were poor at West Ham, by the way. I need to tell you, West Ham played very well and I thought that was one of their poorer performances. But I looked at them in the derby and they've got a bit of metal about them. Newcastle came out of the traps firing, and I watched the game and for the first 10, 15, 20 minutes, they were very, very good. But after that, Sunderland came into the game. I mean, I saw them early on this season at Stamford Bridge, and it was no fluke. They deserved it. And the level of performance, the level of intensity has been great.”

The full interview with Ally will be available in ALS issue 270, which is out for the Tottenham game.
