POTTERS PLAYER RATINGS

Sunderland once again came home from an away match disappointed, after dropping points at the death despite a performance that really should have yielded a win.

ANTHONY PATTERSON: 7/10

Three saves in total and his distribution was decent overall. Their goal was well placed into the bottom corner so not his fault.

TRAI HUME: 7/10

Decent defensively and forced their goalkeeper to make a stretching save with a nice long range attempt towards the end of the first 45.

LUKE O’NIEN: 5/10

Wasn’t his best 90 minutes in a Sunderland shirt by any means. I think he takes the majority of the blame for the goal.

CHRIS MEPHAM: 8/10

Really good from him today, perhaps there was a slight error on his behalf for the goal but it wasn’t his fault primarily. Had complete control of their attack for the vast majority of the game. Also nearly scored at the end.

DENNIS CIRKIN: 4.5/10

Absolutely all over the place and looked a yard off of it for most of the match. There was no shock when he was eventually subbed.

DAN NEIL: 7/10

Drew lots of fouls and generally controlled the middle of the park quite well.

JOBE BELLINGHAM: 6.5/10

Lost the ball a few times and struggled with his passing. Got forward a lot though with some nice dribbles.

MILAN ALEKSIC: 6/10

Aleksic was alright but it wasn’t exactly a refined performance and I think he could have done better in the final third on one or two occasions. There were certainly glimpses of quality there, though.

ELIEZER MAYENDA: 4/10

No clue how he didn’t get that header on target! He actually had the beating of Lynden Gooch for most of the game, but never seemed to make the right decision once he got past his man. Really frustrating.

WILSON ISIDOR: 6.5/10

Had a good effort saved in the first half and his work rate was decent. He needs to work on his positioning though.

ADIL AOUCHICHE: 6.5/10

Should have passed the ball at one point because it would have created a great chance which (probably) would have resulted in a goal, which has effected his rating. He was unlucky not to score however by hitting the woodwork and was also unlucky not to get an assist by setting up that chance for Mayenda.

SUBS:

PATRICK ROBERTS: 7.5/10

He came on and made us a lot more threatening immediately. If he’d been on the pitch for slightly longer I think we would have scored. Doesn’t quite get man of the match because he didn’t feature for that long.

AARON CONNOLLY: 6/10

Not too bad from him, definitely created more threat than Mayenda did. Once again, didn’t have enough time to really effect things too greatly.

AJI ALESE: 6/10

He was much better defending than going forward but made his flank look a lot more secure than when Cirkin was there.
