Régis Le Bris was disappointed with the 3-0 defeat against Manchester City, but is hoping we can learn from it ahead of next week’s derby…
RELENTLESS
“It was a good experience because it is tough to repeat high performances at this level. We knew before the game the sequence of fixtures we faced. Liverpool away, Manchester City away is a strong sequence. We did well against Liverpool but we weren’t at our best today. Manchester City were relentless and they deserved the win.”
“Tactically we were well organised (in the first 30 minutes) but it wasn’t enough. Individually it was possible to escape the pressure but we didn’t. We didn’t take those opportunities and they got progressively closer and closer to our goal and finally a shot made the difference. When you play with a deep block, shooting from mid-distance is a good idea and they found a solution.”
OPPORTUNITIES
“We didn’t give up, we stayed in the game and at 2-0 it was still possible. We believed it was possible to score once and we had two opportunities. If you don’t seize these opportunities then it is over. We will use the next week to keep working and keep improving our squad. You can have positive experiences and today will be useful for the future.”
Meanwhile, Noah Sadiki admitted it was a tough game: “We didn’t really get going, but we are playing against one of the best teams in Europe. The game was a bit scrappy in places and they punish every small mistake. That’s the level we’re competing at now. The fans were unbelievable. They were all I could hear at times. Even when the game was tough, they kept pushing us. That means a lot inside the pitch.”
