Sunderland rescued a point away from home via a late Brian Brobbey equaliser, cancelling out a Tottenham Hotspur opener from Ben Davies. We played awfully in the first half but we massively improved in the second. The result extends our unbeaten run to five matches.
ROBIN ROEFS: 7/10
Three fairly straightforward saves from him and the goal was due to a defensive mishap rather than his fault. He did give the ball away at one point in the second half but that was the only glaring error I noticed.
TRAI HUME: 7/10
A bit suspect defensively in the first half, fared much better in the second. Thought he did well going forward, he had our best chance of the first half and forced a save after the break.
NORDI MUKIELE: 7.5/10
Was so effective when he was moved to right back, basically playing as a winger. Did so well to cut back and get the ball rolling for the equaliser too. Contributed a lot defensively, perhaps not always perfectly.
OMAR ALDERETE: 6/10
Played his part at the back, putting in a decent shift after the team talk. First half not great and should have done better for their goal.
DENNIS CIRKIN: 6/10
Not surprised he was subbed off as he wasn’t at the races today a lot of the time.
LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 6.5/10
Much better in the second 45 but struggled in the first, particularly defensively.
GRANIT XHAKA: 7/10
Eased off the ball once or twice rather than committing to it but looked solid following the interval. Always seemed to be latching onto loose balls to keep the attacks going.
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 7.5/10
Did ok with his one half chance but was one of the few bright sparks early on. Drove forward and won fouls often, he just needed more support.
ENZO LE FEE: 8.5/10
Actually thought he was ok in the first half and he did so well linking up with Brobbey for the equaliser. Could have scored himself too, hitting the woodwork earlier on with a header.
SIMON ADINGRA: 5/10
Too negative going forward, opting to pass back rather than attempt a dribble too often. Dragged a shot just wide about an hour in.
BRIAN BROBBEY: 8/10
Struggled to make an impact for large periods, only making 17 touches throughout, but he did well in the lead up to the goal and then did even better to put it away and get us the point.
SUBS:
ROMAINE MUNDLE: 6/10
Came on with about half an hour left but didn’t notice much from him.
DAN BALLARD: 6.5/10
Came on but wasn’t super busy defensively, did well in the air though.
CHRIS RIGG: N/A
Didn’t have a chance to do anything, had literally one touch.
