Sunderland will play in the FA Cup fifth round for the first time since 2015, beating Championship Oxford United 1-0 away from home. A first half Habib Diarra goal, from a penalty, guaranteed we went into the hat.
ROBIN ROEFS: 8.5/10
Three simple saves, a clean sheet and job done. Encouragingly wasn’t too busy today but he did send a great ball through in the second half.
TRAI HUME: 8/10
He had two long range efforts today and did well defensively. Unfortunately he’ll miss the round of 16 due to accruing two yellow cards in the competition now.
NORDIE MUKIELE: 8/10
LUKE O’NIEN: 9/10
Barely put a foot wrong at the back and held his own against some imposing forwards.
DENNIS CIRKIN: 8/10
Won the penalty that won us the game and did his part in keeping them out.
LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 7.5/10
Not that involved on the ball to be honest but he positioned himself effectively and did the simple stuff without any fuss.
CHEMSDINE TALBI: 8/10
Neglected in the first half, when he started receiving the ball more in the second he stood out. Always looked dangerous on the ball and forced the goalkeeper to make a good save with a shot outside the box.
HABIB DIARRA: 8/10
Scored the penalty, which is what matters in the end. Not too busy during the rest of the game but, similarly to Geertruida, he did the basics without any bother.
ENZO LE FEE: 9/10
Lots of chances created and liked to fight for possession. Not a flawless shift, however he contributed massively to the win.
ROMAINE MUNDLE: 8.5/10
They kept hacking at him, meaning he was hard to control. Still lacking in end product but that could have been different today with some of the chances he had.
WILSON ISIDOR: 5.5/10
Debatably should have scored with his effort from within the box in the opening 45 minutes and wasn’t as combative as I would have liked. Still, we kept playing the ball over the top during the initial stages of the game, when he’s much better with it being played along the ground.
SUBS:
NOAH SADIKI: 7.5/10
Came on and slotted in efficiently. He’ll also miss the next round.
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 7/10
Struggled with their physicality but managed to get a decent shot away at one point. Looked bright.
JOCELIN TA BI: 7/10
Obviously very unpolished but there were plenty of positives from him on his brief debut. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
