PLAYER RATINGS: CITY

Sunderland fell to a 3-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium. We didn’t even play particularly badly, we were just undone by a superior outfit, although we could have done with more pace up front initially and really should have pulled one back in the second half.

ROBIN ROEFS: 7/10

None of the goals were his fault and he made two good saves to prevent things from getting worse. Command of his box was good, distribution could have been better at times.

NORDI MUKIELE: 5/10

Struggled against Doku but he did offer a degree of stability at the back.

LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 6/10

Blocked a Haaland effort off the line and was alright throughout the game.

DAN BALLARD: 6/10

Stood up Haaland at one point and was generally solid. Got really unlucky with the deflection for the first goal.

OMAR ALDERETE: 5.5/10

I didn’t notice him that much to be honest so that must means he was doing okay.

TRAI HUME: 6/10

I thought he was quite effective when challenging for the ball but had one or two moments of bad decision making.

BERTRAND TRAORE: 5/10

His final ball was lacking and he found it difficult to get a hold of the ball.

GRANIT XHAKA: 6.5/10

Got so unlucky not to score in the second half after striking the post. I did feel like he was held back because he basically had to avoid a booking though.

NOAH SADIKI: 6/10

Had one shot fired well wide. There were no glaring errors from him, he just struggled to make an impact.

ENZO LE FEE: 6/10

He wasn’t as pacy as he needed to be but he did almost open the scoring around 15 minutes in and he won a number of free kicks.

WILSON ISIDOR: 5.5/10

Isidor wasn’t poor but he really had to score that chance in the second half, it’s a shame because it was good work to get into that position in the first place.

SUBS:

BRIAN BROBBEY: 6/10

Had limited opportunities to contribute but looked better on the break than Isidor.

CHEMSDINE TALBI: 6.5/10

We looked a lot more threatening after he came on but he wasn’t able to do anything of note.

ROMAINE MUNDLE: 6/10

Worked hard to get into some good shooting and crossing opportunities but he kept over hitting it.

SIMON ADINGRA: 6/10

Looked decent enough but just wasn’t able to make a tangible impact.

LUKE O’NIEN: N/A

Came on late and got himself needlessly sent off, he did look alright before he was dismissed though.
