PLAYER RATINGS: BRIGHTON

ree

Sunderland drew with Brighton and Hove Albion away from home in a goalless affair. Both teams could have scored at various points, so a point is a fair result and one most of our fans would have taken before kick off.

ROBIN ROEFS: 8.5/10

Made four saves, three of which were fairly routine. The fourth one, in second half stoppage time, was a good stop. Commanded his box well but I thought his distribution, particularly after the break, hindered us at times.

NORDI MUKIELE: 8.5/10

No complaints about his defensive work, he had a big job to do in the last half hour and he did enough to prevent a goal.

DAN BALLARD: 9/10

Another rock solid performance from him, rarely beaten and had a great chance saved just before the break at the other end of the pitch.

OMAR ALDERETE: 9/10

Also very solid at the back and had our best chance of the match. Only a fantastic save by Bart Verbruggen prevented his header hitting the back of the net a few moments into the second half.

TRAI HUME: 8.5/10

Very good today and loved to put a foot in, as always. He did squander a decent chance not long after the break though.

GRANIT XHAKA: 9/10

Helped develop several attacks throughout the game and was superb when defending.

LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 8.5/10

Looked good in the middle of the pitch and contributed well going forward and when we were under pressure, particularly in the last 20 minutes or so.

CHRIS RIGG: 8/10

A bit lightweight at times but that’s probably expected at this point in his development whilst adapting to a better league. Drew a few fouls and a had a decent effort blocked late in the first half.

ENZO LE FEE: 8.5/10

Created lots of chances and was always finding space and making runs off of the ball. Should have done better with a header though.

SIMON ADINGRA: 7/10

Looked bright up until the final third, he then tended to lose it after trying to beat his man one too many times or by taking too long to get the cross in.

BRIAN BROBBEY: 7.5/10

Hold up play was really good and he had two good opportunities in the first half, the second of which forced the goalkeeper to work but probably should have done better with his header about 20 minutes in.

SUBS:

ROMAINE MUNDLE: 6.5/10

Looked positive and worked hard, one of his shots should have caused a few more nerves but it just didn’t have enough power on it.

HABIB DIARRA: 7/10

He was being played out of position on the right wing, I thought he coped well.

WILSON ISIDOR: 5.5/10

Couldn’t hold the ball up effectively and didn’t manage to get any shots away.
