PLAYER RATINGS: BORO

Sunderland won away at the Riverside Stadium for the first time in a league fixture in 20 years. Enzo Le Fée created all three goals and the night was capped off with the third of these coming dramatically close to the death.

ANTHONY PATTERSON: 7/10

Made a good save early on and both goals were more-so defensive errors than his fault, especially the second because it was pinged into the far corner. Commanding of his box was improved from the last match as well I thought.

TRAI HUME: 7/10

Struggled in the first half an hour and allowed a dangerous cross or two. Tackling was generally good and thought he battled well for the final hour.

CHRIS MEPHAM: 7/10

Played a part in their first goal definitely but after that I didn’t have to think about him too much, which is what you want from a defender when your team is threatening more than the opposition for an hour.

LUKE O’NIEN: 4.5/10

Partially to blame for the first goal, definitely to blame for the second and also got himself a rather stupid yellow card. He just felt a bit average outside of the errors.

DENNIS CIRKIN: 7/10

A bit like Hume, fought well but not completely refined.

CHRIS RIGG: 6/10

He was getting bullied at times but he was bright going forward on a few occasions.

DAN NEIL: 8/10

He scored from outside the box and was solid with his midfield work when it wasn’t physical. Saying that, he wasn’t awful physically tonight just not great.

JOBE BELLINGHAM: 7.5/10

Played a bit part role in the equaliser. Other than that had a similar game to Neil, as in they both struggled for the opening half an hour but grew into the game nicely.

PATRICK ROBERTS: 7/10

Not his best first half ever admittedly, had a much improved second though and looked dangerous.

WILSON ISIDOR: 8/10

Ran his socks off, a fantastically taken goal and nearly scored a second from a difficult angle. Looked to me like he got pretty unlucky with some offside decisions but I haven’t seen any replays. Iconic post match scenes too.

ENZO LE FEE: 9.5/10

Caused the first goal with a cross, assisted the second and caused the third goal with another cross. Looked a different class from everybody else for large portions of the game.

SUBS:

SALIS ABDUL SAMED: 7/10

Provided some needed defensive assurance in the latter stages of the game and booted the danger clear a couple of times, something we’ve missed this season late on.

ELIEZER MAYENDA: N/A

No rating as he came on after the 80th minute. On a slightly different day he scores though, good work rate and positioning.

IAN POVEDA: N/A

No rating as well, really should have scored right at the end but I’ll chalk that up to lack of match sharpness.
