OPPOSITION VIEW: FOREST

Sunderland face Nottingham Forest on Friday night in the Premier League, so we spoke to Nottingham Forest fan and worldwide stadium announcer/commentator (he was the stadium announcer for the latest World Cup final!) Alan March to get some insight on how the opposition camp are feeling.

16th in the Premier League and five points from the relegation zone, are you confident of avoiding the drop?

Can we ever be truly confident in the Premier League? I think we’ve put ourselves in the driving seat but let’s take nothing for granted, with 5 to go and the teams we have left to play!!

What's been the story of your season? Happy with how things have gone?

Nowhere near happy. We lost a manager that had galvanised, we turned to a manager who didn’t fit the clubs style or expectations, we then turned to a manager that felt more like an emotional choice and not a tactical one and we’ve ended the season clinging on whilst sneaking into a European Semi-final. None of that could have been what was expected,

Thoughts on Vitor Pereira in the dugout?

He’s turned us around mentally and that’s where we seemed to be lacking but in truth we have the same back 5 from last season, that’s where Vitor got lucky. He came in as that 5 returned to full fitness

Who is your best player?

Gibbs-White is going to win that argument but you have to recognise how good Anderson has been this season, forcing his way into the England team too. Neco Williams deserves a special mention too

Thoughts on how Sunderland have done this season?

Remarkable! And I don't think you’ll find a Forest fan that thinks any different. So many teams come up to survive, you guys have competed and registered some amazing results.

Which of our players have caught your eye the most?

I have to say Enzo Le Fée looks like a proper little baller!! His stats are decent for a first season in the PL with a newly promoted club!

Forest are, remarkably, in the Europa League semi final! How have you enjoyed this European campaign? Can you win the whole thing?

Why not!! Football is about dreams and no one expected us to be champions of Europe under Brian Clough, so wouldn’t it be great to do it again when everyone keeps writing us off!! But Villa was by far the hardest of the teams left in the comp to get.
