Regis Le Bris was asked about several subjects in his latest press conference including the club's decision to change the Black Cat to a Black Dog for mental health awareness week, whether he'd enjoy European qualification more than last May's play-off campaign, and how Europe would affect our summer transfers.
THE BLACK DOG - MENTAL HEALTH
“I think it is important. We had this conversation just after the sending off. I won’t criticise the referee and we want to have the best behaviour on the pitch because people are watching us. We have a voice and an opportunity to share ideas and set the tone, set the example. I think it’s a good example here. When we can support something which is really useful for the people, I think it’s important to do.”
MAY VS MAY: PLAY-OFFS VS EUROPE
“I don’t know! We need to experience the situation to speak after. At the minute it is really important to stay humble because I don’t know if we started to dream after a good period, but as soon as you drop your level by just 10% the league is so demanding that you can’t stay alive in the game. It was really tough, the last game at home, so it’s an important reminder about being focused on the daily standards. Don’t look to far ahead because you will lose your main foundations, references, platform to give us the opportunity to be competitive. That is our point at the minute. We want to stay focused. The week was good, the energy was positive, the standards were high, and now we have a strong opponent. Try your best because it will be demanding.”
SUMMER TRANSFER PLANNING
“We have different topics, short term which is the next game, but we want to work on next season as well. Transfer rumours are a consequence of this strong season and I think it’s positive, we want to see the situation like that. We want stability, it is really clear, so after that the market is the market with events, opportunities and so on. So, we will see but stability will be key.”
TRANSFER PLAN FOR EUROPE QUALIFICATION?
“I don’t think so at the minute, because mathematically we were safe just last week. That was probably the first layer. If something happens at the end of the season then we will react, but at the minute it is not the case.”
