LUKE ON DERBY VICTORY

Luke O'Nien was relieved that his early error wasn't the difference maker in the end, describing our victory as "special" and thanking Granit Xhaka for his influence on the game.

UNDERDOG WIN

"It was special. Coming here to win against the odds, I think nobody fancied us apart from our own fans as they always do, to give them the three points is special. The boys deserve it and they're enjoying it."

TIL THE END

"I think whoever came up with the motto 'til the end' deserves a statue! Over the last year or so, I think that motto represents the club nicely. Brian's winning goal today for us, Til The End is the perfect motto and it should go down in history for us."

BOUNCED BACK AFTER MISTAKE

"I’ve apologised to the Lads but what I want to do is thank Granit and the leaders in the group because they kept demanding the right thing. It’s a difficult, lonely place when you’ve made a mistake, especially here. I took a few long throws and was getting abuse for it, but I lent on the leaders and it means a lot to me that I’ve got people like that. To come out in the second half and put it behind me, and put in a performance to give us the platform to kick on, that’s thanks to our leaders who helped me in that big moment. I’m very proud to have them in this team.”

FULL CIRCLE MOMENT

“Especially with the way it went down. I felt a range of emotions today and this one is right up there to be honest. People can say whatever they want - winning at Wembley was good but winning here means a lot more!”

LEADERSHIP

“I’m going to keep mentioning him but Granit was pivotal for me in that second half. He kept saying what the game needed and where we needed to go, how we were going to score, and it was like a script he was saying which all unfolded. There were some big performances like Omar next to me and Melker in goal, and thank you VAR again. The boys are solid, we’ve shown that from the very start. There’s boys that might not have been ready to be on the bench but they were desperate to get back for it. These boys never give up, they keep fighting every single day and demanding more from each other. We showed that today.”

KEEP ON PUSHING

“I think 40 points was the first marker and we are now looking for the next markers. We’ve got to keep cracking on - you don’t get to this stage in the season and just stop. We’ll keep demanding and pushing each other and that’s healthy. We’ve got people coming back from injury and everyone wants to start. If we play like we played today and keep demanding more from each other than we’ll be in as good position.”

FANS

“They were superb. It’s what we do it for. Hearing them and the celebrations at the end, I think it’s a picture in my head that I’m never going to forget. It’s special. A big thanks to them, hopefully they get home safely.”
