Regis Le Bris outlined his disappointment with the Lads' defeat on the opening day of the Premier League season, but insists that now is not the time to panic. It's a long season and nothing is decided in August. He pointed to last year's defeat at Burnley as proof of that.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
“I am disappointed obviously because we wanted to start well and the result is not the result we expected. I think it is clear that the game was decent, it was a game with a lot of possession, 65% at the end, so we had to create something against an aggressive well-organised block. They wanted to exploit our mistakes and unfortunately today we made two and they were able to score in transition. We had to change the result, in the second half we wanted to win and were taking risks with our subs as well. Then, there is a second mistake. It is what it is. We have to improve this side of our game to get better.”
NOT CLINICAL
“It is often the case. I think we created a few chances but if you are not clinical it’s hard to change the opponent’s game plan. They were well-organised but if they have to chase the game then the game is totally different. We were in this situation with the ball and when you are not clinical, the game stays in the same state.”
ANGULO FREE KICK
“It is good for his confidence, it was a wonderful goal. After that, the team is most important. In that case I repeat we still have to work hard and stay consistent, show more composure and level up this end product to be more productive.”
DON'T PANIC
“Last season we lost our first away game and we were still able to win games. It doesn’t mean we are in a bad place. It is clear that we still have room for improvement everywhere and we want to get better. That is going to be the case this week, looking ahead for the game at home. We are really pleased to play against Fulham in front of our fans and I hope we will find the small details to change the result.”
