Wilson Isidor was reportedly close to leaving Sunderland in January and reports have claimed that the striker is ready to find a new club in the summer.
In January, Wilson had been linked with several Premier League clubs but Sunderland's apparent £25m asking price was too much, and he remained on Wearside. However, it has been said that the club are willing to lower that price at the end of the season.
With Brian Brobbey nailed on as Regis Le Bris' preferred number nine, Isidor has not started a Premier League game in 2026. Everton, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Nottingham Forest had all been credited with some interest in the now-Haiti international who will look to impress at the World Cup with his new nation.
Isidor was our top scorer in the Championship last season and continued that form with a great start to life in the top flight, but the forward is clearly a confidence player and a long run of games without any goals has led to very limited minutes since the New Year. He did find the net off the bench against Aston Villa and since then his substitute cameos have looked promising.
WIth five goals Isidor is actually only one behind our top scorer Brobbey, having played significantly less minutes. He offers genuine pace and has scored some fabulous goals for Sunderland, giving us a different profile of player up front which is important in the context of certain games - however, Le Bris clearly prefers to play with a more physically imposing striker. Both Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda, who impressed so much last season, have found minutes hard to come by in 2025/26.
It will be a real shame to see Wilson leave - he has a great bond with the fans and a brilliant personality - but perhaps it's best for all parties. We would receive a good fee compared to what we paid for him, he'll be able to play regularly in the top flight or perhaps abroad.
