Is Igor Paixao Sunderland’s new winger? Sunderland have been heavily linked with Brazilian winger Igor Paixao.

The Marseille winger has reportedly agreed terms on Wearside, but so far the clubs are yet to agree on a transfer fee with two bids already being rejected. The 26-year-old is seen as an alternative to target Geny Catamo, who Sunderland have made several bids on but failed to find an agreement. 

Paixao made 30 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring six and assisting five. While in the Champions League, he managed four goals and one assist in just eight games.

The Brazilian would help bolster Sunderland’s attack as they fight across the continent in the Europa League. Le Bris side have made a winger their priority in the window and Paixao could be the forward they have decided on. Paixao can play on both wings however prefers the left-hand side. 

Sunderland have had a bid rejected earlier in the week but talks remain ongoing. However, Florent Ghisolfi will have to fend off Premier League side Arsenal who see Paixao as a replacement to the departing Leandro Trossard.

Florent Ghisolfi is still reportedly looking to sign around 3 or 4 players by the end of the window on September 1st with a winger being a priority. They have also been linked with Manchester City winger Jack Grealish with Ghisolfi offering a loan with an option to buy for a 30-year-old.
