HUME ON EUROPE

Trai Hume has been on Sunderland's journey from League One to the Premier League, and scored the opener in the game which confirmed our Europa League qualification. He says it's no fluke, and the Lads deserve it after the work they've put in this season.

“I can’t put it into words to be honest with you. We fully deserve that. All season we’ve worked our absolute socks off, all year. When we first came up no one gave us a shot and here we are in the Europa League. Proved a lot of people wrong and there’s nothing better.”

FIRST GOAL IS KEY

“I think at this Stadium, I’ve played here four-and-a-half years now and they’re absolutely amazing every time, the first goal is key. I knew that if we scored first we would win no matter what, with the stadium behind us every step of the way. That’s what happened.”

LEAGUE ONE TO EUROPA LEAGUE

“It’s been a whirlwind of a journey. I signed in League One and if you’d told me that in four years I’d be here in the Europa League, I wouldn’t have believed you. It’s a credit to the owner and the staff over the years and all the players, everyone who we’ve signed. They’re all fantastic people, never mind players. Like I said, we work out socks off every day and this is what we deserve.”
