GULLIT PRAISES BROBBEY

Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit has praised fellow Dutchman Brian Brobbey, who he has known since the age of 10. Although our number nine is yet to score a goal this season, his physicality is unmatched in the Premier League and he's a nightmare for any defender to play against. Gullit spoke to us via ComeOn.

DESERVES THE CREDIT

Brian Brobbey has made a real impact in the Premier League for Sunderland and I’m very happy for him because in Holland he had some good times and he endured some tough times. He is a player who has been criticised a lot, that he should have scored a lot more goals, and because of how he was treated, it was good for him to get out of there and it has been the best thing for him, and I’m very happy and proud that he has a chance to retaliate now.

SCORING FOR THE NETHERLANDS

He even scored for the national team at the World Cup and that was very pleasing to me because I have known Brobbey for a very long time. I first knew him when he was 10 years old. He played with my son in the same team and I have seen his development so I’m very happy for him.

OTHER CLUBS NEED HIM

Could he go on and play for a club like Manchester United? It depends on what Manchester United need. Maybe Tottenham Hotspur need him a lot more right now. It’s unbelievable to see what is happening to them and I’m really surprised because I thought they were going to move forward this season. Roberto Di Zerbi is a good coach but now you see how difficult the job really is, especially buying players. 

SPURS DISASTER

It worries me because a good Tottenham Hotspur is good for the Premier League as a whole. We need Tottenham Hotspur to be good but they are not good. It’s a tough team. I find it fascinating how difficult they are making it to play some good football at the moment and score goals. I really cannot understand them as a club. There is a lot of work needed there.
