Former Sunderland sponsors Spreadex have projected the Lads to finish above Newcastle in the league at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Their predictions have us finishing in 11th, whilst the Mags are expected to finish in 13th place. To finish above them would cap off an excellent season for SAFC having already reached the 40-point mark in early March, completed the double over our rivals, maintained the longest unbeaten home record in the league and achieved some brilliant results against the big six sides. Plus, such a low finish for the Mags would surely bring Eddie Howe’s spell at Tyneside to an end.
Notably, the supercomputer has also predicted Arsenal to win the Premier League with 82 points; two clear of Manchester City. United and Villa are projected to complete the top four, with Liverpool in fifth place also securing a Champions League finish under Arne Slot.
Further down the table, Spreadex believe Tottenham Hotspur will be relegated – an event which would probably be the most shocking in the Premier League since Leicester City’s title win. They’re expected to go down alongside Burnley and Wolves, with West Ham narrowly avoiding the drop.
