Melker Ellborg spoke after keeping a clean sheet on his Sunderland debut. He's happy with his performance and has been gelling in well with the squad.

“For sure, this is what dreams are made of. I couldn’t have imagined a better debut, an incredible night.”

PRE-MATCH

“The first few weeks with the team have felt really good and I enjoy playing with the lads and they’re so welcoming. For me, it wasn’t too nervous. Of course, it’s nervous when you know you’re going to play your first Premier League game. It’s a dream come true but I felt very well connected with the team and well taken care of and I think you saw that today as well. They defended like a crazy team, so it was quite easy for me.”

“It’s a special game, maybe not playing the most beautiful football. Of course, there were some situations I had to handle, I think I did it in a good way. But, especially from the team with the effort they put in and how they defended the goal, it was a blessing for me to be standing down there.”

“They are incredible to have on your side there. It’s just enjoying them and you just love having them by your side.”

DO MORE THIS SEASON

“For sure, we have lots of games left, and, as you said, this is one goal for us (reaching 40 points) but of course we want to take the next step. From now on, I think it’s just taking as many points as possible and showing we are a really good team and we are to be accounted for next season.”

“I just saw that (we are playing Port Vale) and it’s a huge game and another good opportunity to do something special with this team. As you say, full focus on Sunday.”
